Updated COVID-19 vaccines will soon be widely available in the U.S.
The decision by two federal agencies opens the newest shots from Moderna and Pfizer and its partner BioNTech to most Americans.
The Associated Press reported the move is part of a shift to treat fall updates of the COVID-19 vaccine much like getting a yearly flu shot.Â
A new COVID-19 vaccine was last offered more than a year ago.
Confirmed COVID cases are rising across the country but at rates still well below last year.
The R.I. Department of Health on Sept. 14 said that confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Rhode Island increased by 698, with five deaths, from Sept. 3-9.
There were 1,520 new cases identified, with 10 deaths, from Sept. 4-10, 2022.
