WJAR: Fall River’s Correia recalled, re-elected

FALL RIVER – Mayor Jasiel F. Correia II was both recalled and re-elected Tuesday, according to WJAR-TV NBC 10.

Despite 62 percent of votes recalling Correia, he won the election with 35 percent of the vote, 241 votes ahead of Paul Coogan’s 34 percent of the vote. The remaining votes were split among three other candidates.

The efforts to recall Correia began following 13 federal charges of fraud and filing false tax returns after an FBI investigation regarding Correia’s company SnoOwl, which he founded in 2012 to develop an app designed to promote local business.
