WNDC receives $300,000 grant

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded the Woonsocket Neighborhood Development Corporation a $300,000 grant to create affordable housing.
The WNDC will build 30 homes and 45 rental units, creating 140 construction jobs, HUD reported. The grant is leveraging $5 million in additional funding.
The grant is part of a total of $16.9 million, awarded to 60 developments around the country.
“HUD is deeply invested in promoting affordable housing and community development throughout rural America,” HUD Secretary Steven Preston said in a statement. “These grants will stimulate the kind of employment, economic growth and housing development that will have a direct impact on working families in our rural communities.”
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Rural Housing and Economic Development grants have provided about $223 million to more than 5,500 businesses that produced 14,000 homes and created more than 35,000 jobs. For additional information, visit www.hud.gov.
