BRISTOL – Zim Sailing has acquired the assets of Dwyer Aluminum Mast Co., of Branford, Conn., DAMC announced Friday. The new company will be called Dwyer Mast and Rigging and will also be located in Bristol.
“We are excited about taking on the Dwyer brand and product lines and continuing to serve the small-sailboat market,” said President Steve Perry in a statement. “It will be a large task to learn and transfer all the skills of so many years of experience to the new team, as well as re-energizing and modernizing the business in Bristol – a town with a rich boatbuilding and marine-trades tradition.”

Dwyer Aluminum Mast Co. is a manufacturer of sailboat spars, rigging, blocks, extrusions and hardware.
Dwyer builds spars for a range of sailboats between 9 feet and 35 feet in length. They can be found on Com-Pac Yachts, Precision Marine, American Sail, Marshall & Stur-Dee Cat boats, Catalina, Dyer Dhow, O’Day, Rhodes, Club 420s, Flying Juniors, among others.
Zim Sailing currently employs 16 workers in Bristol.
Details of the transaction were not provided.
No staff is expected to make the transition from Connecticut.
