PROVIDENCE – The Bryant University College of Business ranked No. 49 in Bloomberg Businessweek’s undergraduate business school rankings released Friday, moving up 14 places from No. 63 in last year’s list to crack the top 50 for 2014.

Providence College was the only other Rhode Island business school to make the Businessweek list and had the biggest year-over-year improvement among all schools, rising 34 spots to No. 75 from No. 109 in the 2013 ranking.

The University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business topped the list for the fifth consecutive year, followed by the University of Virginia McIntire School of Commerce, the Cornell University Dyson School of Applied Economics & Management, the Boston College Carroll School of Management and the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis.

The magazine used five ranking criteria: student survey assessment, academic quality, employer opinion, median salary of graduates and highest number of graduates who go on to top MBA programs. Businessweek ranked 132 schools this year, and nine of the top 10 schools in 2014 were the same as last year’s top 10.
