“Tom – the head broker – his father and my father were very close back in the day, and so he drew me in towards the business as far as a mentor and the like,” Casey said. “When Tom did decide to establish the firm, that’s when I thought it was a good opportunity for myself and for my family to take my sales experience and relationships to help support the growth of this new venture.”
Casey enjoys building relationships with clients for the long term. A lot of it, he said, is helping clients find a space where they belong. His most meaningful transactions are those that help nonprofits and community-based organizations. He has long-standing relationships with property owners, investors, business leaders and more throughout the state.
“We want to have a long-lasting impact on how we serve the communities and how the communities are served,” he said. “We feel like we do have a role in that, in placing people and companies in the right spots, whether it’s a CPA firm, a law firm or a manufacturing company.”
He said that people have to put their families first, and if they need to hustle to get the job done, then that’s what they should do.
“It’s hard work, but you have to be patient. You have to be able to be willing to take the ride,” he said.
Casey said leadership has a thousand different definitions, but for him it means having long-lasting relationships with people. He noted his long-standing friendships and how they always genuinely ask each other how they are.
Thinking about leadership also reminded him of coaching lacrosse and working with players to go to the next level.
“You need to stay curious. You need to keep asking questions of people and also get to know as many people in the community as possible,” Casey said. “Just get involved and get to know people. That’s the fun part of the business.”
