Zoo appoints new director

The Roger Williams Park Zoo has appointed a curator from the Kansas City Zoo in Missouri as its new director.

Bruce C. Clark was selected Sept. 15 following a six-month, nationwide search that landed 175 potential candidates, according to Nancy Derrig, superintendent of Parks for the City of Providence. Clark was Kansas City’s zoological director for the last two years. The 202-acre zoo is the tenth largest in the country with about 1,200 species and more than 700,000 visitors a year.
