PROVIDENCE – Bertucci’s Corp., the chain of casual Italian restaurants based in Northborough, MA, announced that it filed voluntary petitions for relief under Chapter 11 in the United States Bankruptcy Court Monday. The restaurant company, known for pizza and other specialties cooked in large brick ovens, has three locations in the metropolitan Providence area.
A spokeswoman for the company stated to PBN late Monday that the company’s Taunton location will close while both the Warwick and Attleboro locations will remain open. Bertucci’s gift cards will continue to be accepted at the local restaurants as well as the company’s remaining locations from New England to Virginia. Christine Moscaritolo said, “Bertucci’s core business remains intact. We are appreciative of the loyalty of our guests and expect this period of restructuring will be seamless for them.”

The bankruptcy filing, made in bankruptcy court for the District of Delaware is a so-called “Stalking Horse” bid. Right Lane Dough Acquisitions, LLC has agreed as the Stalking Horse Bidder to purchase substantially all of Bertucci’s assets and assume certain liabilities, subject to higher or otherwise better offers.
