PROVIDENCE – A group of Brown University students called “We are Railroad” has launched a GoFundMe campaign to provide books to children who have parents in prison.
The group has set a $3,000 goal to purchase copies of the book “Missing Daddy” for 200 children.

“Missing Daddy” is a picture book about a young girl who misses her father because he’s incarcerated.
We are Railroad says its main cause is “dismantling the prison industrial complex.” The group is collaborating with the Center for the Study of Slavery and Justice and the Sarah Doyle Women’s Center at Brown University.
The project started in October, and We are Railroad has placed copies of the book in all nine Providence libraries and has coordinated with the R.I. Department of Corrections to deliver books to children of incarcerated parents.
