The Ocean Race, to date, has announced two stops for the 2021-2022 race, Alicante, Spain, and Aarhus, Denmark.
The race, then called the Volvo Ocean Race, stopped in Newport in 2018 and 2015. That year, 11th Hour Racing, under the name Vestas 11th Hour Racing, placed fifth.
It is not clear if the next iteration of the race will stop in Rhode Island. Local organizers have told PBN that the decision to apply would depend on the schedule of the race.
