PROVIDENCE – The Millennial Professional Group of Rhode Island has launched a website that it hopes will help encourage the migration of new millennials into the Ocean State, and persuade those who are thinking about leaving to stay.
The website – www.millennialri.com – will provide millennials, the group born between 1980 and the mid-2000s, with information regarding workshops and social events, as well as resources for internship and job seekers. The website also will be a place for members to connect with other professionals, according to information from MPGRI.

In addition to the launch of the website, MPGRI announced its first board. The members are:
Executive Committee
- President and Executive Director Travis Escobar. He is the community engagement coordinator at ONE Neighborhood Builders (formerly known as Olneyville Housing Corp.).
- Executive Vice President Jordan Day. Day is a constituent representative for Providence Mayor Jorge O. Elorza.
- Executive Vice President Diony Garcia. Garcia is a special assistant attorney general in the Office of the R.I. Attorney General.
- Secretary Niyoka Powell. Powell is a mental health worker at Butler Hospital.
- Treasurer Matt Coupe. Coupe is an alumni & community engagement liaison at Leadership Rhode Island.

MPGRI launched in February with a recruitment event that attracted more than 100 attendees.
“MPGRI is dedicated to increasing the number of millennials who #ChooseRI and improving opportunities for those who make that decision. Whether it be through supporting more business/entrepreneur friendly statewide policies or tackling the crippling student loan issues facing our generation, MGPRI wants to make sure that Rhode Island is both a destination and a home,” a press release from the organization states.
