WARWICK – The Rhode Island chapter of SkillsUSA, a national nonprofit aiming to improve training of high school and college students for technical, skilled and service occupations, is accepting two award nominations.
The nominations, due Dec. 1, are for “extraordinary contributors to career and technical education” – for one educator and one adviser.

The educator award goes to a teacher, school administrator or businessperson who has helped high school students develop their technical skills and prepare for quality jobs.
The adviser award is limited to Rhode Island schools participating in SkillsUSA programs; the state winner also be nominated for National Advisor of the Year.

“We must improve the job training our students receive to better align with the needs of growing industries, and it is important to highlight effective models that can help schools throughout the state offer the most beneficial career and technical education programs,” said U.S. Rep.
