BOSTON – Brown University came in at No. 6 on the “New England’s largest NSF grant recipients” list compiled by the publication Mass High Tech.
Brown received $28.5 million in 111 NSF grants in 2010; $27.1 million was money designated to research and $1.45 million were education and human resources grants.

The Top Five on the list were, in order: Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Harvard University, University of Massachusetts Amherst, and the trustees of Boston University.
Another Rhode Island institution to make the 30-recipient list was the University of Rhode Island, which came in at No. 12 with $17.1 million in 38 NSF grants, $16.6 million of which was research money while $512,000 were education HR grants.
