HarborOne launches education center

MANSFIELD, Mass. – HarborOne Credit Union has opened HarborOne U, an education center designed to provide local residents with an array of financial-education opportunities.
HarborOne said it believes that the center, located at 131 Copeland Drive, is the only one of its kind nationwide. The center will offer various financial-education lessons, including youth financial-literacy programs, first-time homebuyer seminars, credit counseling and classes on retirement and estate planning.
The Brockton, Mass., credit union said HarborOne U is an offshoot of its Multicultural Banking Center in Brockton. That center was opened in September 2007 to provide financial information for low- and moderate-income residents on avoiding predatory lending and foreclosure. To date, more than 2,000 people have taken advantage of the courses at the center.
HarborOne U will have a special emphasis on serving small-business owners, women and young adults.
HarborOne Credit Union, with $1.8 billion in assets, is the largest state-chartered community credit union in New England and one of the top 100 in the country. HarborOne branch offices are located in Abington, Attleboro, Bridgewater, Brockton, Canton, Easton, Mansfield, Middleboro, Plymouth, Randolph and Raynham, Mass., and a mortgage office in Centerville, Mass.
