PROVIDENCE – Citizens Financial Group Inc. has opened its first Miami-Dade County office as part of a push to expand its commercial banking business in South Florida.
The Rhode Island-based bank’s new office at 121 Alhambra Plaza in Coral Gables opened earlier this month and is staffed by 15 employees, said Frank Quaratiello, senior vice president and head of commercial and business banking communications.

The office operates under a three-year lease, Quaratiello noted, and will focus on commercial banking, rather than retail or private banking.
The expansion is aimed at serving Citizens’ specialty and middle-market clients in the South Florida region, the bank said.
The office gives Citizens a local presence in a market where it can provide financing and other commercial banking services to businesses.
Citizens already has a retail banking presence in South Florida, including branches in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. The Coral Gables office represents a separate expansion of the bank’s commercial banking operations, Quaratiello said.
The office is part of Citizens’ larger efforts to grow its commercial banking footprint in markets where it sees opportunities to serve middle-market companies and specialty industries.
