A group of employees from Collette Vacations traveled to Kenya on a tour that included a visit to the Tenderfeet Education Center, located outside Nairobi. The center was selected as a recipient of funding from the Collette Foundation, which provides support and funding to children in countries that Collette tours and visits.
“We felt we could assist the 70 or so children of the [Tenderfeet Education Center], most of whom were orphaned, many by AIDS, and who had no access to education,” said Carol Wright, accounting administrator and one of the team leaders for the Kenya initiative.
Collette employees Bill Dzuira, executive vice president, Information Technology; Lisa Corrente, senior account executive; Lucas Bialecki, district sales manager; and Jay Fehan, district sales manager traveled to Kenya with physical education packs for each student. The physical-education packs have sneakers, socks, shorts, a T-shirt and personal note packaged in a back pack. In Kenya, without the proper physical education uniform a school cannot hold physical education class. The pack will allow the Tenderfeet students to participate in gym class. •
