FAIRHAVEN – Brownell Trailers, a half-century-old Mattapoisett, Mass., company that pioneered the hydraulic boat trailer, has been bought by Integrated Machine LLC and relocated here. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Brownell was founded in 1954 as Brownell Boat Works Inc. and describes itself as the world’s largest manufacturer of boat stands.

The company’s founder, David “Fred” Brownell, died earlier this year at age 80, and his daughter, Linda, decided to sell to Integrated Machine, which is owned by John J. Medeiros of Marion, according to The Standard-Times.
Integrated Machine “offers a wide array of machining services from precision test sample to high production,” according to its Web site.
“Integrated Machine has produced many of the precision components used on Brownell
Trailers’ products for several years, and we have an intimate understanding of Brownell’s manufacturing processes and its tradition of customer service,” Medeiros said in a statement.
