Preserve Rhode Island was recently awarded a $3,000 matching grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation Antoinette Downing Preservation Fund for Rhode Island. The money will be used to develop a new Web site for the organization.
Preserve R.I. was among several grant recipients selected in a competitive application process from applicants across the Northeast, including Delaware, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.
“With these start-up dollars,” said Wendy Nicholas, the regional office director for the National Trust, “Rhode Island joins the hundreds of other communities across the country actively ensuring that America’s architectural and cultural heritage is preserved.”
Preserve R.I. was chartered by the R.I. General Assembly in 1956 to be the nonprofit force guiding historic preservation and given the mandate to reach out into all corners of the state.
