PROVIDENCE – The retail price of gasoline in Rhode Island declined for the third consecutive week, according to AAA Southern New England.
In its Aug. 6 survey, AAA reported an average price of $2.869 per gallon for regular, unleaded, self-serve gas, a drop of 4 cents from last week’s price of $2.909 per gallon. The price is also 7.4 percent lower than the year-ago retail price of $3.099 per gallon for self-serve, unleaded regular. In addition, Rhode Island drivers are facing gasoline that is 3 cents more per gallon than the national average of $2.839.
Prices for other grades of fuel ranged from $3.149 per gallon of diesel to $3.019 per gallon of mid-range unleaded gasoline to $3.149 per gallon of unleaded premium.
