PROVIDENCE – After three weeks at the same average price, gasoline prices in Rhode Island fell a penny over the past week, according to AAA Southern New England.
AAA’s Dec. 10 survey of stations across Rhode Island found self-service prices for regular unleaded gas averaging $3.069 per gallon, one cent less than last week. A year ago, the average local price was 76 cents lower at $2.319 per gallon.
Nationwide, the nonprofit auto club found self-serve prices for regular unleaded fell to $3.009 per gallon, six cents below both last week’s national average and this week’s average price in the Ocean State.
The range in prices for self-service regular at local stations widened to 22 cents, from a low of $2.979 to a high of $3.199. Similar ranges were seen for other grades of fuel, which had average prices of $3.209 for midgrade unleaded, $3.319 for premium unleaded and $3.559 for diesel.
