PROVIDENCE – Gasoline prices in Rhode Island stand at $2.579 per gallon, according to AAA’s March 19 survey, an increase of 1 cent over last week.
The increase was the fifth weekly jump in a row, and brings the total for that time period to 40 cents, AAA Southern New England reports. One year ago, the average price for self-serve regular was $2.449.
The range in prices for self-serve regular in the latest survey was 11 cents, from a low of $2.519 to a high of $2.629, the nonprofit auto club reported. AAA reported wider price ranges for other grades of fuel and advised motorists to shop around.
Average self-serve prices for other grades of fuel this week were $2.689 per gallon for midgrade unleaded; $2.799 for premium unleaded; and $2.749 for diesel.
