PROVIDENCE – Gasoline prices in Rhode Island have risen 7 cents, in their fourth straight week of increases, to their highest level since September, AAA Southern New England reports.
Self-service, unleaded regular averaged $2.569 per gallon in AAA’s March 12 survey, an increase of 7 cents from last week’s survey and 32 cents from a month ago. The price is now 15 cents higher than at the beginning of the year.

One year ago, the survey’s average price for self-serve regular was $2.269.
The range in prices for self-serve regular in the latest survey was 12 cents, from a low of $2.519 to a high of $2.639, the nonprofit auto club reported. AAA reported wider price ranges for other grades of fuel and advised motorists to shop around.
Average self-serve prices for other grades of fuel this week were $2.669 per gallon for midgrade unleaded; $2.779 for premium unleaded; and $2.729 for diesel.
