Alex and Ani raises $1M for American Cancer Society through jewelry sales

CRANSTON – Alex and Ani LLC has raised more than $1 million in donations to date for the American Cancer Society through its “Charity by Design” jewelry collection, according to the American Cancer Society Monday.

The company’s Charity By Design collection was created to donate a portion of profit to participating nonprofits from specific bracelets designed, created and sold by Alex and Ani.

Alex and Ani began its partnership with the American Cancer Society in 2012.

Currently, Alex and Ani are selling a special edition “Celebrate Today” charm bangle for the ACS, of which 20 percent of the profit will go toward the nonprofit.

“We are honored that our products inspire hope in others, not to mention the donations from the product are pushing American Cancer Society towards their goal of a world without cancer,” said Colleen Fugere, Alex and Ani vice president of partnerships and brand licensing, in a statement. “Progress is being made, and we are fortunate to be partnered together on this journey.”

According to the ACS, the $1 million it has received from the Charity by Design program will be used to fund American Cancer Society research, prevention, advocacy and patient support programs.
