What modifications have you made to your workplace to support employee wellness? We have a free 24-hour state-of-the-art fitness center staffed by some of the best personal trainers; we have a massage therapist; we have a robust employees assistance program that Amgen pays 100% of the cost should staff need access to behavioral health programs; and we also provide nutritional services, amongst others.

What role does diversity, equity and inclusion play in your hiring and promotion decisions? Employee resource groups participate in the recruitment process and help us diversify our interview panels. In partnership with Skills for Rhode Island’s Future, Amgen hires first-generation college students from diverse communities across the state for future careers in the biotechnology industry. Amgen actively recruits by participating in college and university career fairs.
How do you support community service work by your employees? We partner with nonprofits, schools and local colleges to make a difference in the development of young people. Each staff member has eight paid hours off per year to volunteer in a community service. Several of our leaders are board members of local nonprofits.
