SOUTH KINGSTOWN – APC-MGE has pledged to give The Nature Conservancy $5 for each power-backup and power-saving device sold through Earth Day, April 22.
The products are the APC Back-UPS ES 750, a power-backup device, and the Power-Saving SurgeArrest. The donation applies to all units sold in North America via APC.com or participating retailers.
The Back-UPS ES 750 and the Power Saving SurgeArrest both feature APC’s SmartShedding Technology, allowing the units’ master outlets to sense when the computer has been turned off or has gone into sleep mode, so it can shut off power to unused peripheral devices.
By cutting power to these “dark loads,” APC said, the power-saving Back-UPS ES 750 can provide combined savings of $40 per year, and the SurgeArrest $25 per year, compared with competing products.
APC-MGE is the critical power and cooling services business unit of Schneider Electric (Paris: SU.PA). •
