A state report released on Dec. 16 found that 31 of the Providence Public School District’s 40 schools have a two-star rating or lower, on a scale of one to five stars.
Only six of the schools listed in the R.I. Department of Education report saw their ratings improve from 2019. Thirty-four schools in the city have a chronic student absentee rate of more than 40%.

Three years into the state takeover of the capital city’s public schools, how do you feel about the pace of improvements?
We are failing to cultivate our most valuable assets: our children. Parents should be outraged at the way RIDE is continuing to fail to provide their children with an decent education. If I were a parent with school age children (I worked hard so we could afford to send our kids to private schools for grades N -12) I would be demanding that A) heads rolls at RIDE; B) our public schools be converted to Charter Schools ASAP; C) the teachers’ union be disbanded since, apparently, the union must be part of the problem because the union has done nothing to solve the problem.
P.S. I would vote out of office anyone who doesn’t agree with me on these points.
