PROVIDENCE – Bally’s Corp. has submitted a proposal to build a $1.6 billion casino, hotel and entertainment venue in Chicago.

The proposal is in response to a request for proposals from the city for a project that would receive the sole casino license in Chicago. Rhode Island-based Bally’s announced the proposal submission on Oct. 29.

The company identified two potential sites in its proposal – the Chicago Tribune Publishing Center and the McCormick Place Truck Marshaling Yard.

The project would be built in two phases, an original $1 billion phase that would include 2,700 slot machines, 95 table games, a 100-suite hotel, an outdoor music venue and restaurants. The second $600 million phase would add 4,000 gaming positions, a 400-room hotel and a 3,000-seat indoor venue, as well as a 20,000-square-foot exhibition space.

“Chicago is a dynamic, world-class city, which is why we are committing to make a $1.6 billion investment in establishing Bally’s Chicago as our flagship, and the only property in its class in the Chicagoland market,” said Soo Kim, Bally’s Chairman. “This property will be built, owned and operated by Chicagoans, with a focus on minority and women investors, contractors, suppliers, consultants, and employees. It will generate tax revenue, create good-paying jobs, and attract international, national, and local visitors for generations to come.”

The company also said its proposal included the utilization of a portion of the available 4,000 gaming positions to be placed at O’Hare and Midway airports, to leverage airport visitation to the city and increase revenue.
