NEWPORT – BankNewport raised more than $7,500 in a winter fundraiser for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, the bank announced in a news release.
The funds raised by community members through the “Kind Souls, Full Bowls” campaign, which took place from Jan. 18 to Feb. 14, will add to a $50,000 donation from the bank to support the food bank and its 159 member food pantries, the release stated.

The funds will be used to buy 22,000 pounds of food to help support families in need, Food Bank CEO Andrew Schiff said in a statement.
