BankNewport launches collection drive for area shelters

NEWPORT BankNewport on Aug. 2 launched its annual donation drive to benefit local homeless shelters, according to a press release.

The “Kind Heart, Fresh Start,” campaign runs through Aug. 27 and benefits four area shelters: Amenity Aid RI and Crossroads Rhode Island in Providence; Welcome House of South County in South Kingstown; and the Woonsocket Family Shelter. Community members, bank customers and employees are asked to donate new adult and children’s socks and personal care items including toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant and bars of soap.

Donations can be dropped off at any of the bank’s 17 branches or a dropbox at BankNewport City Center, the release stated.
