PROVIDENCE – Bank Rhode Island was recently recognized as the best in-state bank by Forbes, according to a press release.
The magazine’s annual Best In-State Bank rankings for 2021 identified top banks in each state based on consumer surveys, with scores determined using overall recommendations as well as specific feedback on branch and digital services, financial advice and customer service, among other factors.
BankRI earned the top spot in Rhode Island, followed by Citizens Financial Group Inc. at No. 2 and The Washington Trust Co. in third. However, Citizens Bank was recognized in five states, making it the best performing bank across multiple states alongside Ohio-based Huntington Bancshares, according to Forbes.
The Rockland Trust Co. was also recognized in fourth place on the list of top in-state banks for Massachusetts.
One hundred and thirty-five banks made the list overall, out of nearly 5,000-eligible institutions. National banks with branches in 15 or more states were not included.
