The eighth annual Holiday Giving Tree program at Bank Rhode Island reached 225 families in need during this holiday season.
Each of the bank’s 16 branches, in Providence, Kent and Washington Counties, decorated their entrance ways with “Holiday Giving Trees.” The branches identified a nonprofit organization in close proximity to serve as a partner in reaching individuals or families in need.
The organizations provided BankRI branches with a list of first names of individuals being served by them, and a corresponding holiday “wish list.” Those names were made into gift tags and placed on a “Holiday Giving Tree” in each branch and employees and customers were encouraged to take a gift tag, purchase an item on the wish list and return it to the branch by the date requested.
“We find this program to be meaningful to our employees and customers because they’re able to fulfill a specific wish made by an individual or family in need,” said Pattie Saracino, vice president of community relations for BankRI. ·
