BCBSRI signs contract for new admin system

PROVIDENCE – Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island recently signed a contract for a hosted technology system to support the company’s claims processing, premium billing, membership administration and other core administrative functions.
BCBSRI selected The TriZetto Group Inc.’s Facets enterprise administration system, along with several related IT solutions and support services.
“We chose TriZetto because they are a quality company with an outstanding product line, their technology is specifically designed for the healthcare payer industry, and they have a proven track record, successfully serving 15 other (Blue Cross) plans,” said E.J. Sutherland, BCBSRI’s vice president of information technology.
BCBSRI, the state’s largest health insurer, covers 690,000 customers. Newport Beach, Calif.-based TriZetto’s health benefit administration, care management and constituent engagement IT solutions touches nearly half of the U.S. insured population. &#8226
