Berthiaume named president
of University Gastroenterology

PROVIDENCE – University Gastroenterology has named Dr. Eric Berthiaume its new president, the company recently announced.

Berthiaume will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the specialty group and ensuring patients continue to receive gastrointestinal care.

“I am deeply honored to have been selected for this important role at University Gastroenterology. As part of my new role, I will work closely with other University Gastroenterology physicians to strategize on novel and effective ways to improve patient care in the most cost-effective manner,” Berthiaume said.

Berthiaume, who has nearly 20 years of experience, specializes in gastroenterology and has treated a variety of gastrointestinal diseases by performing colonoscopies, upper gastrointestinal endoscopies and other specialized medical procedures.

Berthiaume holds a faculty position as a clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at Brown University and a residency at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, one of U.S. News & World Report’s highest-ranked medical and academic hospitals in the nation.

Berthiaume also regularly provides consultative services at Kent Hospital and the Roger Williams Medical Center. He earned his medical degree at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and is an alumnus of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass.
