Bill allows nonprofits to file to Mollis on Internet

PROVIDENCE – State legislators last week approved a bill that allows nonprofit organizations to file their annual reports to the R.I. Secretary of State’s office online.
The move comes just before the June 30 deadline for nonprofit organizations to file with Secretary of State A. Ralph Mollis.
State law requires nonprofits to report the names and contact information of their officers and board of directors, among other information, in the month of June. More than 6,700 nonprofit corporations that are registered to do business in Rhode Island are subject to the requirement.
Prior to the General Assembly’s decision, nonprofits were required to either mail in the report or deliver it in person. Those options are still available to the organizations. &#8226
