BioProcess Institute opens new facility

NORTH KINGSTOWN – BioProcess Institute, which offers testing and support services to biopharmaceutical manufacturing businesses, moved into a 2,500-square-foot facility in North Kingstown last month.
The business had leased space in Uxbridge, Mass., but it did not have a permanent location until now, said BPI founder and director James Dean Vogel. BPI is renting its new facility from Dry Bridge Commerce Park.
“This is really our first real home,” he said.
The facility will contain the company’s headquarters and testing laboratories, which can test both single-use and multi-use equipment. BPI is currently using a grant from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers to study branch piping, according to a press release.
Besides Vogel, BPI has five part-time employees. The business serves clients from around the world and also collaborates with institutions close to home, including the University of Rhode Island.
“We want to help things grow in Rhode Island, especially in bioprocess technology,” Vogel said.
