Brewers Sakonnet Marina looks to add building

PORTSMOUTH – Brewers Sakonnet Marina has secured town approvals required to construct a new office and boat storage building.
The Portsmouth marina aims to build a roughly 9,000-square-foot facility that includes offices, restroom facilities and 7,000 square feet for indoor storage. General Manager Dave Rodrigues said the building would sit in the North Yard storage area.
As part of the project, the marina would also tear down an outdated 3,200-square-foot wooden storage building and a 3,000-square-foot office building.
“It will be a huge improvement for our facility,” Rodrigues said.
The marina still must secure permits from the R.I. Department of Environmental Management and the R.I. Coastal Resources Management Council. Rodrigues said management hopes to secure the permits and start construction by June, with the project wrapped up in fall 2012.
