TAUNTON – The Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation has committed a $50,000 grant to the Old Colony History Museum to support a planned revitalization of the museum’s grounds at its longtime Church Green location, the foundation announced on July 21.
The grant, which will be distributed in two annual installments, will help fund the museum’s Landscape Revitalization Project at 66 Church Green in Taunton, where the organization has been based for 100 years.

The project includes improvements to parking, site security and the museum’s outdoor space, including new historic and native plantings.
Museum officials said the upgrades are intended to improve accessibility, expand outdoor programming and create additional space for community gatherings and educational activities.
“We are deeply grateful to the Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation for recognizing the importance of the Old Colony History Museum and investing in its future,” Katie MacDonald, executive director of the museum, said in a statement.
The museum’s project continues efforts to expand programming and attract more visitors to downtown Taunton, officials said.
“We are proud to do our part to help support this initiative to invest in the long-term future of one of Taunton’s significant historic and cultural institutions,” John Silva, CEO and president of Bristol County Savings Bank and president of the foundation, said in a statement.
Since its formation in 1996, the Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation has committed more than $38 million to nonprofit organizations throughout the communities served by the bank. In 2025, the foundation awarded $2.9 million to various nonprofit organizations.
The Old Colony History Museum preserves and shares the history of Taunton and the surrounding Old Colony region through exhibits, educational programs and community outreach.
