It is free and open to the public. The event is sponsored by Bryant University’s U.S.-China Institute and Bryant’s Department of Management.
Tatelman is corporate vice president as well as president of Motorola’s mobile devices business in Asia and the Pacific. Motorola opened its first Chinese office in Beijing nearly two decades ago and, as of last December, had captured 21 percent of the Chinese mobile phone market.
China’s 449-million mobile phone users “are extremely sophisticated,” Tatelman said in an interview last year. They purchase mobile phones for the experience, not the technology, he said: “They buy better music experiences, better photo experiences, better access to mobile Internet.”
