BANKING

Peter Walsh has been appointed director of retail lending at Bank
Rhode Island. He will be responsible for overall strategy and product
development for the bank’s residential mortgage, home equity and
consumer/installment lines of business. Walsh joins BankRI from Citizens
Bank, where he most recently served as senior vice president in the
business banking group. He has more than 21 years of experience at
Citizens in sales and product delivery through the branch network and
extensive retail credit experience. A Providence College graduate, he
serves on the board of directors for Keep Providence Beautiful.

DESIGN

John Jordan has joined The Holson Burnes Group as product manager for
North Smithfield-based Burnes Albums. He will oversee design, product
development, and merchandising for photo and memory albums. Most
recently Jordan was marketing manager for Thompson Products, a
Lakeville, Mass., manufacturer of photo albums. Prior to that he spent
15 years in specialty retail, serving in a variety of management
capacities. Jordan received his bachelor’s degree from the University of
Massachusetts at Amherst.

HEALTH CARE

William J. Kirkpatrick is the new director of clinical social work for
Lifespan’s three teaching hospitals-Rhode Island Hospital, The Miriam
Hospital, and Bradley Hospital. He has many years of experience with the
Miriam and Rhode Island hospitals. For the past three years he was
director of the discharge planning department at Miriam. And prior to
that he was their director of the department of social work for six
years. In addition, Kirkpatrick held the position of chief social worker
for surgical service for four years at Rhode Island Hospital. He holds a
master’s degree in social work from Boston College’s graduate school of
social work. He is a clinical teaching associate at Brown University
School of Medicine and is a member of the adjunct faculty at Roger
Williams University.

MANUFACTURING

Jeremy C. Flath has been appointed director of corporate business
development for The Cooley Group. He is responsible for identifying and
developing new markets, joint ventures, distribution and collaborations.
Flath was previously the chief operating officer for EPL Technologies in
Philadelphia, a manufacturer of specialty chemicals and flexible
packaging materials.

Dan O’Neill has been appointed account executive to support sales and
marketing of Toray Plastics’ line of Lumirror polyester film products.
He will be responsible for sales of Lumirror thick film products into
markets such as graphic arts and thermal lamination. His background
includes positions as a national key account executive for AET Films,
and regional sales manager for Transilwrap, a manufacturer and converter
of plastics for the graphic arts market with locations throughout the
U.S. O’Neill is a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University.

MEDIA

Lisa Carro of Swansea, Mass., was recently appointed director of
finance at The Providence Journal Co. She’ll retain direct
responsibility for the accounting staff with the accounts payable
manager reporting to her directly. Carro joined the Journal company in
1990 as a staff accountant. She then held the positions of senior fixed
asset accountant and senior internal auditor. She most recently served
as accounting manager after being promoted to manager of budgets and
costs in 1996. Carro holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the
University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth.

NON-PROFIT

Jim Taricani, I-Team investigator with WJAR TV 10
, was one of four people named to the board of directors for the Rhode
Island Community Food Bank. With Newschannel 10 since 1979, he has
received nine Emmy nominations and has won four Emmy awards. In addition
to his new board status, Taricani is also a member of the board of
trustees of the Providence Public Library, and serves on the board of
directors for the Rhode Island Organ Donor Association. He is also a
member of the Rhode Island Heritage Hall of Fame.

Emily Westcott of Chepachet was recently elected to the Greenville
Public Library board of trustees. She will serve on the membership
committee and work with director Chris LaRoux on marketing and
publicity. Westcott is the director of development and marketing for the
All Children’s Theatre in Providence.

PHARMACY

Susan E. Andrade has been recommended to be the first to occupy the
Thomas M. Ryan/CVS Chair in Community Pharmacy at the University of
Rhode Island. She was recommended by CVS and Louis Luzzi, dean of the
University of Rhode Island’s College of Pharmacy. The chair was designed
to help URI expand its community pharmacy research and to improve health
care in Rhode Island. Andrade has been an assistant professor of
pharmacoepidemiology at URI since 1994. The Warren native currently
lives in North Kingstown with her husband Rick and their daughter
Allyssa.

TRANSPORTATION

Brian C. Schattle, CPA, has been appointed controller of Bonanza Bus
Lines, Inc. Before this appointment, he was the supervisor of general
accounting for The Stanley Works Fastening Systems Division in East
Greenwich, and a senior accountant in the Providence office of KPMG Peat
Marwick, LLP. A member of the Rhode Island Association of Certified
Public Accountants, he is assistant treasurer of the RI March of Dimes
Executive Committee and a frequent volunteer for several other Rhode
Island civic organizations and charities. He is a graduate of the
University of Rhode Island.
