David LaPlante
David LaPlante has been appointed an architect by the Robinson Green Beretta Corporation. LaPlante joined RGB as an intern architect in 1995. Since then he has contributed to the design for the Feinstein Youth Camp for the Narragansett Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Sherburne, VT, Memorial Library, and projects for the U.S. Postal Service. LaPlante has a degree in architecture from Roger Williams University.

Jennifer H. Rose
Jennifer H. Rose is a recent addition to the marketing and sales department of Davitt Design Build, Inc. Her responsibilities include budget analysis, client services and market research. She also specializes in assisting clients with interior design. Prior to joining the firm, Rose was a sales associate for Bay Realty, Ltd., in Narragansett and assistant building manager with Greater Providence Associates.

John F. Treanor
John F. Treanor will be joining Washington Trust Bancorp, Inc. as president next week, on April 1. Effective with this appointment, John C. Warren will assume the role of chairman, and continue as CEO. Treanor joins Washington Trust from SIS Bancorp., Inc., located in Springfield, Mass., where he was executive vice president, COO, CFO and treasurer. Before SIS, he served as executive vice president, treasurer and CFO of Sterling Bancshares Corporation in Waltham, Mass. Treanor received his BS degree from St. Anslem College, and an MBA from Suffolk University.
Steven E. Adamo
Stephen E. Adamo has been named President and chief operating officer of the Citizens Mortgage Corporation. Joining the company from North American Mortgage Company in Warwick, he has worked as Rhode Island sales manager, New England sales manager and managing director for CMC. He is a board member of the Rhode Island Mortgage Bankers Association and the Federal National Mortgage Association, northeast region. Adamo is a 1987 graduate of Merrimack College.
COMMERCE
Judy Louzon of Narragansett has been promoted director of membership services for the South Kingstown Chamber of Commerce. She will help to promote membership services, enhance public awareness of the Chamber and coordinate Chamber programs and events. Louzon joined the Chamber in 1994 as an office administrator.
CONVENTIONS & VISITOR
James T. Wood of Tampa Fla. has been named president of the board of directors for the Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau. He previously served as vice president of convention sales and marketing for the Tampa/Hillsborough Convention & Visitors Bureau Association, Inc., where, among other duties, he was responsible for bringing conventions to the Tampa area, and implementing the organization’s $5 million annual budget. Prior to joining Tampa/Hillsborough CVB, Wood served in a number of management positions with Marriott Hotels in New Orleans, Denver, Dallas and Salt Lake City. He began his duties here in Providence at the end of last month.

Jay C. Taylor
Jay C. Taylor has been appointed vice president of the New England region of the Advanced Energy Corporation, where he will be in charge of developing the northeast market for the company from regional offices in Bedford, New Hampshire and Providence. His background includes serving as a political aide and energy programs manager for Governors Judd Gregg and Stephen Merrill. Taylor has consulted on several conservation projects throughout New England, dealing with energy cost reduction strategies and infrastructure efficiency improvements. Originally from Portsmouth, NH, Taylor received his bachelor of arts in political science from the University of New Hampshire in Durham. He is working towards his masters degree at the New Hampshire College Graduate School of Business.

Jonathan E. Soule
Jonathan E. Soule was recently appointed general agent of Mass-Mutual’s Providence Agency. The Providence Agency provides financial services for Rhode Island and Southern New England. For the past 16 years, Soule has been a financial services professional, most recently serving as and eastern regional director in MassMutual’s sales Division. Before joining MassMutual he spent eight years as an agent and sales manager in Rochester, New York, and Worcester, Mass. He received his bachelors’ degree from Hobart College and holds the Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant Designations.
HEALTH CARE
Stephen Cummings, MD
Stephen Cum-mings, MD, is a recent appointee to Kent Hospital’s Wound Recovery Center. Cum-mings, in his new role of director, will oversee the Center’s clinical and administrative operations. Board certified in emergency medicine and family medicine, he is a member of Kent’s Emergency Service Department staff and served as its assistant chief. He has also served as the Rhode Island State Department’s regional medical officer overseas.
David E. Walsh
David E. Walsh was recently named the community service representative of the Rhode Island area for AdCare Hospital. Known mostly for his contributions to the field of drug and alcohol abuse, Walsh participated in a commission to study the feasibility to transfer the Division of Substance Abuse from the Department of Health to the Department of Mental Health, Retardation and Hospitals. Walsh served as the marketing director of High Point Treatment Center in Rhode Island and is the former executive director of the Pawtucket Housing Authority.

James E. McDermott, Jr.
James E. McDermott, Jr., was named a senior assistant vice president in Amica Mutual Insurance Company’s marketing department. McDermott, a graduate of the University of New Hampshire, began working for Amica in 1983 as a marketing research analyst. He was elected an officer in 1992 and an assistant vice president in 1996. McDermott has earned the life insurance industry’s fellow, Life Management Institute designation.

Constance Jaquith
Constance Jaquith has joined Clarkin Corporation as business development coordinator/sales associate. Formerly associated with Dimeo Properties in accounting, finance and management, Jaquith is a member of the Construction Financial Management Association and serves on the finance committee of Trinity Church. She is also a member of the RI Association of Realtors.
