ARCHITECTURE
Lynn M. Desrochers has been hired as the director of marketing for The Robinson Green Beretta Corporation. Desrochers, originally from East Greenwich, comes back to Rhode Island after working as director of sales and marketing for an architectural firm in the Boston area. Her responsibilities at RGB include marketing communications, graphic materials, public relations and business development. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Rhode Island and a master’s from Bryant College. Desrochers is actively involved in the real estate community with organizations such as SMPS, BOMA, NAIOP and IFMA.
ARTS
The National Endowment for the Arts has announced that it has awarded a grant to support the work of the Perishable Theatre for fiscal year 1999. The recently announced NEA grants were awarded to six arts organizations in the state. Besides the Perishable’s award, grants were also given to the Trinity Repertory Company, Brown University and the RISD Museum. Perishable’s $5,000 grant was awarded for the Shows for Young Audiences Touring Program, which brings original and topical plays to children throughout Southeastern New England.

Miko Exotic-wear, Inc., a manufacturer, wholesaler and retailer of exotic clothing, lingerie and accessories, was recently awarded a contract to be the exclusive fashion distributor for RIMBA, Fun Factory and Playstixx throughout North America, the company’s president, Jeff Gellman reported.
FINANCING
Christopher J. Maciel
Christopher J. Maciel of Narragansett has been appointed director of leasing of the newly formed finance development group at Strategic Solutions, Inc. He will be responsible for all marketing activities and establishing a reseller channel. The finance development group will operate as a subsidiary of SSI, calling themselves Technology Funding Solutions. Maciel has extensive experience in residential and commercial lending. The Boston College graduate was formerly with BankBoston/Hospital Trust for over ten years.
Edward H. Ladd
Edward H. Ladd has been elected to the board of directors of Citizens Financial Group, Inc., the financial services holding company for the Citizens Bank franchise throughout New England. He is a chartered financial analyst and chartered investment counselor. He was a director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston from 1989 to 1995, and was a trustee of First Mutual of Boston from 1972 to 1988. Ladd is a trustee and chairman of the corporation of Wheelock College.

Jane E. Brock-mann has joined the firm of Medeiros + Sanford Inc. as an associate. Previously she was a staff attorney for the National Legal Center for the Medically Dependent & Disabled in Indiana. She graduated from Colgate University and Valparaiso University School of Law. Her practice will focus primarily on commercial litigation.

Charles P. Kwolek, Jr.
Charles P. Kwolek, Jr., CPA, CFE, AIS, CLU has been promoted to vice president of AIPSO’s field operations department. AIPSO is a management organization and service provider for administering the residual insurance market. Kwolek will direct all home office and regional office staff responsible for the delivery of AIPSO’s services and products to insurance industry customers in 49 states and the District of Columbia. He will also direct the organization’s regulatory and industry affairs, communication and customer liaison, regional office management, and management team leadership.
Barbara Perrino
Barbara Perrino of Perrino & Associates, Inc. recently received the Real Property Administrator designation from the BOMI Institute. This designation indicates that she has completed a program of courses dealing with ownership, management and operation of major office and commercial buildings. Her company, located in Warwick, specializes in property management and consulting. Perrino is a board member and treasurer of the Building Owners & Managers Association of Greater Providence, board member of Advent House and properties committee member for the Boy Scouts of America.
PHILANTHROPY
The Rhode Island Community Food Bank recently honored Fleet Bank for its commitment to help make the community hunger-free. Fleet has been the lead sponsor for the Taste of the Nation event for the past 12 years. Their contribution this year is $15,000, and they have helped the Food Bank provide turkeys to families in need at Thanksgiving through an annual corporate contribution.

Lynn Aaronson has joined the Leukemia Society of America as executive director of its Rhode Island Chapter. She will oversee all chapter programs, which include fundrais-ing, special events, research, patient services, public and professional education, advocacy and community services. Over the past six years, Aaronson has held many positions in development at the American Cancer Society, where she oversaw all aspects of fundraising, special events and major gifts. She received her bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University.
PROVIDENCE PLACE
Leslie DaCosta, Harold W. McDougall, and Joseph Koechel have been named to senior management positions for Providence Place. DaCosta, of Dartmouth, Mass., has been named marketing director. She will be responsible for coordinating all promotional and advertising ventures. McDougall has been named specialty leasing manager. The Marshfield, Mass. resident comes to the team from the Pyramid Company, where he served as specialty leasing manager for eight years. Koechel has been named general manager. He joins the development team with over 20 years of experience in the retail and property management industry. The three were appointed by Daniel Lugosch, III.

A Realtor in the East Greenwich market since 1985, Brien has specialized in relocation and has also handled historic and architecturally significant properties in Historic Elmwood and Edgewood.
