David S. Chaf-fee, co-founder of Chaffee & Partners and Chaffee & Bedard has been named Person of the Year by The Advertising Club of Southeastern New England. He was honored at the advertising club’s annual awards luncheon last week. Chaffee’s has more than 20 years of consumer and trade account management in the advertising community. He is the 38th recipient of this award.

Lisa Carreira has joined Advertising Ventures Incorporated as an account planner. Joining the firm from Bank-Boston, she will concentrate on event planning, promotion development and project management. Carreira, a Johnson & Wales graduate, previously served as a freelance event planner for Advertising Ventures, Inc.

 

 

 

Mary L Mahoney

BANKING
Mary L. Mal-oney has joined Credit Union Central Falls as the accounting manager. She will oversee the day to day operations of the accounting department. Maloney, who has more than 10 years of accounting experience, most recently worked with Paul Damiano, CPA in Lincoln. The Smithfield resident holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bryant College.

 

 

Margaret Silva
Margaret Silva has been appointed accounting manager for People’s Credit Union. With over 23 years of experience in accounting, she is now responsible for managing the operation of the accounting department. She received her associates’ degree in business administration from Bristol Community College and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

 

EDUCATION
The festivities for Rhode Island Distinguished Educators Recognition Day were held earlier this month at the State House. The Teacher of the Year award was given to Barbara A. Ashby of Providence Public Schools. Other award winners included Linda Bello, Mary Harrison, Barry Ricci, Kathleen Ward-Bowen, Jean E. Mason, Ronald Paul Poirier, Ana Maria Amaral, Judith Elaine Gugel, Mariann C. Hayward, Lynda Francine Cross, Tracy Jane Shannon, Lucille Andolfo, Suzanne Bartlett, Joyce Martinelli, Kathleen Miner and Robyn Simoneau.

ENGINEERING

Mark Eldridge
Mark Eldridge has been promoted to chief financial officer at Summit Technical Services, Inc. of Warwick. He will oversee all financial and accounting responsibilities and assist in the direction of the com-pany’s operations. Summit is a national provider of temporary/contract engineering and IS services. Eldridge, a Saunderstown resident, earned his master’s degree in business administration at Bryant College and his bachelor’s in accounting from the University of Rhode Island. Prior to joining Summit, he worked as a controller for Swarovski America Limited.

 

 

HEALTH CARE

Dr. Patricia Ellen Kearney
Dr. Patricia Ellen Kearney has joined the Lincoln Health Center as an internal medicine physician. Receiving her undergraduate degree from Bryn Mawr College, Dr. Kear-ney went on to earn her doctor of medicine degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. She completed both her internship and residency in internal medicine at New England Medical Center in Boston. A Cumberland resident now, Dr. Kearney comes to the Lincoln Health Center most recently from the General Internal Medicine Division at Braintree Medical Associates, in Braintree, Mass.

 

 

HOSPITALITY

Kym Januario
Kym Januario has joined Newport Hospitality, Inc. as an account manager. She is responsible for sales and managing of all details and program services for small, short-term groups. The company is a full-service meeting planning and destinations management company specializing in the design and delivery of events, activities, tours, staffing and transportation for corporate, incentive and association programs. Prior to joining Newport Hospitality, Januario, a Katherine Gibbs graduate was employed by the Private Bank at BankBoston as a marketing associate. Her responsibilities included planning and managing all Private Bank events. Januario is a Bristol resident.

 

NON-PROFIT
Goodwill Industries of RI has recognized CVS Pharmacy, Mail Processing Concepts, and the YWCA of Greater Providence for outstanding commitment to providing employment opportunities for people with disabilities and other employment barriers. Eleven other companies were named to Goodwill’s honor roll of Cooperating Companies for their efforts. Those companies were Absolute Catering, BA Ballou, BankBoston, Chelo’s Restaurant, Ferland Corporation, Marriott Hotel, Monarch Industries, Non Profit Resources of Southern New England, Ocean State Bindery, Orchard View Manor and T. Sardelli & Sons.

PARCEL
Elliot Robinson was recently promoted to operations manager by Eastern Connection express parcel service in Providence. With the company since 1990, Robinson has served as route supervisor, supervisor of operations and a driver. Before joining Eastern Connection, he was employed as a shipper at Arkwright in Fall River. Before that Robinson spent 12 years in the shipping and receiving department at GTE Sylvania, also in Fall River.

REAL ESTATE

Bob Turner
Bob Turner has recently joined the office of Residential Properties Ltd. of Cumberland, as a sales associate. Spending most of his career as an executive for several large New England printing firms, Turner was also the owner of Turner Graphics for 10 years. He received his certificate as a buyers’ representative and he also is licensed in Massachusetts.

 

 

 

SERVICES

David Martin
David Martin of Robinson Supply Co. was recently presented the salesman of the year award for 1998. He joined the company in 1993, and is one of eight outside sales people. The Warwick resident won this award in 1994, and again in 1996. The sales team covers all of Southeastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod and the islands, and all of Rhode Island.
