CAI Software acquires MultiProcess Computer

SMITHFIELD – CAI Software LLC., an enterprise resource planning software provider, has acquired the New Hampshire-based MultiProcess Computer Corp., an international provider of enterprise document archiving and retrieval solutions, CAI announced on Wednesday.

The acquisition will add six new employees to CAI’s current staff of 55.

According to CAI spokesperson Tom Spillane, while no immediate jobs will be brought Rhode Island, the acquisition should help the company grow locally in the future. “This is a continuation of our growth strategy,” says Spillane. “We recapitalized in 2014 and we’re looking to really grow the business through strategic acquisition where it makes sense, and right now that’s business management software for our industries.”

Founded in 1978, CAI provides ERP software for customers in the food, precious metals, lumber and building materials industries, among others. MCC’s primary product is the DataView Records Management System, and the company currently services over 1500 customers globally including medical, manufacturing, and utility companies, and government agencies.

“We are very pleased to formalize our 15-year business and technology partnership with MultiProcess Computer,” said CAI’s founder and president James McCooey. “We’ve had the opportunity…to work with the talented team at MultiProcess and to see, first-hand, the superior technologies they’ve developed and enhanced over the years.”

MultiProcess Computer will continue to operate under that name and will remain at its current location in Windham, N.H., with co-founder James Bubnikowics assuming the role of president.

“We’re proud to give Rhode Island graduates an opportunity to work in the tech field and to keep some of that talent in the state,” Spillane added. The company currently has ten job openings at their Smithfield office.
