New associates at Darrow Everett LLP will find they’re on the fast track to partner the moment they start working at the law firm.
To encourage career advancement, attorneys are paid a monthly bonus based on any client matters that they originate for the firm. Promotion is also based on the business they bring in.
“We offer them the ability to grow their own practice from day one,” said Craig Maddalena, director of business operations.
The firm has a wealth of experience in a variety of areas, including acquisitions and sales, corporate and real estate finance, personal and corporate tax matters, estate planning and commercial litigation.
Advancement is just one of the reasons Darrow Everett is considered a great employer. “We have a benefits package that’s equal to that of the large firms in the area,” Maddalena said.
One example: The firm matches 100 percent up to the first 3 percent of an employee’s 401(k) contribution, and then 50 percent on 4 percent and 5 percent contributed.
Telecommuting on a regular basis is not practical at a law firm, but Darrow Everett allows lawyers and other staff to do so when necessary, and provides them the tools to do so, including designated terminal service and, for attorneys, BlackBerries.
There are activities throughout the year to foster team spirit and camaraderie, including road races and seats for Providence College basketball. “We have seats so our staff can see the games. It’s a great [opportunity] for networking as well,” Maddalena said.
The holiday season is always celebrated. Everyone on staff receives a year-end bonus, tied to the firm’s success over the past 12 months. There’s also a holiday bash for both staff and clients. &#8226
