Carousel Industries appoints first information-security executive

EXETER – Carousel Industries announced the appointment last week of Jason Albuquerque as the company’s first chief information security officer, a new role created to streamline Carousel’s cybersecurity readiness and prevention initiatives.

Albuquerque, who has served as Carousel’s director of business systems and operations since 2014, has more than two decades of experience in information technology services and was recognized in Tech Collective’s 2011 Tech10 awards program for IT excellence.

In his new position, Albuquerque’s primary focus will be to establish a comprehensive Security Office as a center of excellence for Carousel, while partnering with the company’s presales engineering team to develop new ways to engage clients in mitigating internal and external security threats.

Albuquerque will also lead Carousel’s in-house initiatives to assess, evaluate and mitigate both internal and external security threats to Carousel’s services, network infrastructure and business information systems.

“Jason Albuquerque’s appointment to the chief information security officer position at Carousel underscores the growing global importance of this strategic role to enterprises in all industries,” Bill Thompson, Carousel’s executive vice president of operations, said in a statement. “In his new role, Jason is already leading the charge to build an informed organizational culture of cybersecurity, further positioning Carousel as the vanguard for our customers and creating an unbreakable relationship forged by credibility and trust.”

The announcement of Albuquerque’s new role came the same day that consumer credit-reporting giant Equifax announced the private data of more than 143 million Americans was compromised in a cybersecurity breach.

With an increasing spotlight on the importance of corporate cybersecurity preparedness, more companies are adding chief information security officer as an executive role. As Carousel’s first appointee to the position, Albuquerque said he looked forward to expanding the company’s security practice and exploring business opportunities in the realm of cybersecurity.

Founded in 1992, Carousel Industries of North America Inc. is an IT services and cloud-solution provider headquartered in Exeter, serving 6,000 clients from 27 offices and three network operating centers nationwide.
