NEW BEDFORD – A casino developer last week introduced the initial site plan for a $1 billion waterfront casino on a former manufacturing site.
Northeast Resort Group, in partnership with Peter Pan Bus Lines Inc., announced that they want to build a 230,000-square-foot gaming hall, a 600-room hotel and 2,750-space parking garage on about 35 acres.
Northeast Manager Leon Dragone said the design includes the adaptive reuse of former mill buildings, coupled with new construction.
“We’d like to have a blend of old and new,” he said. “In fact, we’ve indicated that we’re looking at rehabbing one of the mill buildings and housing condos or apartments.”
The hotel, dubbed Revere Landing, could open its doors as early as 2012, he added.
Northeast Resort Group is based in East Longmeadow, Mass.
