PROVIDENCE – The IT disaster planning workshop slated for this Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., has been moved to the Providence Biltmore, at 11 Dorrance St., also in the city’s downtown.
The workshop, sponsored by Lighthouse Computer Services Inc., originally was to have been held at the Renaissance Providence Hotel. But after various construction, permit and fire-code delays, the hotel recently advised Lighthouse in a letter that “due to the possibility of additional delays,” its management “strongly suggested” the workshop organizers consider an alternative location. The Renaissance apologized for the inconvenience.
“We are still expecting this to be a great event with many customers, just in another venue a few blocks away,” said Lighthouse spokesman Dave Sylvestre. The company is notifying conference attendees and presenters today, via phone and e-mail, he said.
“If some attendees do arrive at the Renaissance,” Sylvestre added, “that hotel will have a driver to take them to and from the Biltmore.”
