MIDDLETOWN – Marking the holiday season and end of the year, Child & Family announced the receipt of $120,000 in grants from national nonprofit organizations, which will fund their programs throughout the community.
Supporting vulnerable children, at-risk families and elders in need throughout the Ocean State, the grants include:
- The Walmart Foundation ($50,000): This grant will fund Child & Family’s Newport-based Supportive Housing program, which enables women and their children under the age of 18, who were previously living in dangerous environments, to access safe, affordable housing.
- van Beuren Charitable Foundation ($42,000): This grant will support the organization’s Elder Services program, which looks after seniors by providing home-based, behavior health counseling in the hopes of reducing symptoms of depression and improving quality of life.
- Rhode Island Foundation’s Canepari Family Fund ($25,000): This money will be used to assist homeless families living in Rhode Island via one or more Child & Family programs.
- Rhode Island Foundation ($2,500): This grant has been specially earmarked to address the needs of elderly Child & Family clients in crisis situations living in the Providence metropolitan area. These needs include food, security, housing, clothing, medication and other basic necessities.
Marty Sinnott, Child & Family president and CEO, said the organization is “thankful” to receive so many “generous” contributions during this time of year.
