Caitlin Villari, CIC Providence’s regional director of events, said the hub building at 225 Dyer St. in Rhode Island’s capital city considers itself a global leader for innovation. It provides resources, connections and physical space for companies to grow. This might include programming for company leaders and investors to meet each other.

Villari says this shared model is designed for start-ups. She says it helps them grow faster and better because they’re collaborating in a usable leased space.

“We do not retain that intellectual property, which is really a cool highlight for having the shared start-up space,” she said. “But we provide a lot of the tools for businesses to grow and to also collaborate with each other.”

CIC Providence’s office spaces are about 90% occupied, Villari says, with the hub trying to build innovative spaces catered to local markets. CIC Providence looks to give local startups the tools they need to grow their business, including booking a conference room or anything else they might need, Villari says.

The spaces also support global entrepreneurs who are entering new markets by providing connections and services to help them thrive.

CIC members, including clients and affiliates around the world, have raised billions to drive support for innovation in their industries. CIC Providence also provides event space in its locations, which can be booked for the general public. The company also has complimentary event space for programming such as Rhode Island’s startup week.

“[We’re] being present for these big activities that go on, especially in Providence, just to collaborate in any way that we can,” Villari said.
