PROVIDENCE – Alysha Brock, a business analyst at Citizens Bank, has been named the latest recipient of the company’s Community Service Sabbatical.
Brock, a Coventry resident who has been with the bank for 11 years, began her three-month paid leave on Dec. 1 at RiverzEdge Arts Project, a youth-development program in northern Rhode Island. She will return to Citizens in March.
RiverzEdge pays teens for work in the arts community, emphasizing creative expression, disciplined effort and economic self-reliance.
Brock will assist RiverzEdge Arts Project with its marketing and public relations. She also will work with children at local schools and in the after-school program.
“We are deeply committed to making a real difference in the communities where we live and work,” said Edward O. “Ned” Handy, president at Citizens Bank Rhode Island. “Our sabbatical program is of particular value to the communities we serve. Our colleagues have the opportunity to spend three months making a significant impact on the lives of people served by local nonprofits like RiverzEdge Arts Project. Brock will bring valuable experience to their program.”
Citizens’ Community Service Sabbatical program enables an employee with three or more years of service to work full-time in the community for three months and bring back to the workplace a greater appreciation of the social needs and challenges in the community. Eighty-five Citizens employees have been sent into their communities since the program started in 1994.
An active community volunteer, Brock recently received a Partner in Philanthropy award at the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ annual National Philanthropy Day.
